Why do we need your support?
The byway’s goal is to strengthen communities in the Minnesota River Valley through tourism based economic development by the promotion of the river valley’s exceptional historical, scenic, cultural, and recreational opportunities.
What is the Alliance?
The Alliance is made up of business, chamber, museum, agency, citizen, city and county volunteers. This group meets monthly to work toward the objectives of the byway. Accomplishments of this group include:
- A corridor management plan
- Distribute over 15,000 copies of our full color Visitors Guide annually
- The www.mnrivervalley.com website
- 6 minute promotional video
- Interpretive panels
- Signage inventory & more signs
- Ads in tourism publications
- Featured on a PBS travel show
- National case study for rural tourism
- Selected as a National Scenic Byway
How will your contribution be used?
Some of the specific projects the Alliance will be working on in this year include:
- Create 5 short videos that promote the MN River Valley
- Create a new MN River Valley Visitors Guide
- Promote our new website for the MN River Valley Scenic Byway
- Promote the Minnesota River regionally
- Create new interpretive panels along the byway
- Market the videos online
