Linnaeus Arboretum is an important part of Gustavus Adolphus College, which overlooks the city of St. Peter and the Minnesota River Valley from its west bank location. The Arboretum is a 130 acre mix of wilderness, park-like space, and a variety of features for visitors to experience and explore.
The Arboretum is named for famed Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus and is home to all three of Minnesota’s native biomes — Tallgrass Prairie, Deciduous Woodlands and Coniferous Forest — plus wetlands and ponds — with miles of trails winding through these areas for walkers/runners/bikers. Other features to enjoy include: the authentic 1850’s Borgeson log cabin, the Swedish-style labyrinth, the Johnson Waterfall Pond, multiple horticultural gardens, Melva Lind Interpretive Center, and much more.
Open to everyone during daylight hours, “the Arb” is a great place to get away for exploration, recreation, meditation and education. The Interpretive Center and Arb areas are available to groups for rental.
