The Big Stone County Museum is home to many historical treasures of the past, including a huge granite anchor. Legend has it that Paul Bunyan left it there while fishing the ancient lake Agassiz. Also on display is the Muskegon, the Golden Bantam boat, which once traveled the waters of Big Stone Lake.
Also on site is the Charles Hanson North American Wildlife Collection, displayed inside the former Artichoke Lake General Store. The collection by local farmer explorer Charles Hanson contains over 500 native waterfowl, as well as upland birds and other exotic specimens from places as far away as the Arctic Sea.
